Ashley Schimke is a program specialist for the Arizona Department of Education working to bring Arizona grown foods into school meal programs. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Dietetics at Arizona State University and is an active member of the Maricopa County Food System Coalition.
Arizona Farm to School is a growing movement to ensure students have access to fresh and healthy Arizona grown food. Reach out to our team for more information and to find resources about starting a school garden or buying locally grown food for your meal programs.

Farm to preschool is an exciting program for children 0-5 focusing on healthy eating habits. Examples of farm to preschool activities include farm visits, school gardening, local food taste tests, taste education, local food preparation and cooking education, parent education on access to local foods, and serving locally grown foods during snacks and meals.
