Disney’s Artemis Fowl | Official Trailer

Remember the name. It’s Fowl. #ArtemisFowl.

Disney’s “Artemis Fowl,” based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, is a fantastical, spellbinding adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of his loyal protector Butler, Artemis sets out to find him, and in doing so uncovers an ancient, underground civilization—the amazingly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan—so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.

“Artemis Fowl” is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Josh McGuire, Nikesh Patel, Adrian Scarborough and Miranda Raison, with Colin Farrell and Judi Dench. Kenneth Branagh, p.g.a. and Judy Hofflund, p.g.a. are producing with Angus More Gordon and Matthew Jenkins serving as executive producers. Conor McPherson and Hamish McColl wrote the screenplay.

Disney’s “Artemis Fowl” opens in U.S. theaters on May 29, 2020.

  1. Do directors, script writers or producers these days no longer read the source material? 🤦🏻‍♀️ There’s creative freedom and then there’s butchering a perfectly well written and beloved world. 🤦🏻‍♀️

  2. As the Artemis Fowl books are my favorite ones for 9 years now, I'm not gonna watch this shit. Had to quit the trailer at the half.

  6. Disney, please don’t step on the throat of my child hood… How many originals are you going to ruin before you start listening to people..

  7. Why don't movie studios ever follow the source material , I mean how difficult is it .
I mean look at Harry Potter and how successful it's been .

  8. Guys hear me
Maybe this is not artemis junior, but rather the third. Since it has already been established that his father was a protector.
Pls let this be the case

  9. you know when i heard rick riordan was approching disney plus about starting over on percy jackson i was excited. Now i really hope that doesnt happen.

  10. Heyyyy, now u should film nem Percy Jackson adaptation if even this book can bring u some money.# DisneyAdoptPercyJackson

  11. I liked the Percy movies as a stand-alone. They sucked but it was fun. But please … Eragon was the worst when it came to book to movie adaption.

  12. Soooo, the names are really the only part they kept??? WTF??? Where is his mother in this story? WHAT!?!? OMG, so disappointed already😭

  13. This is either the best trailer in the fact that it doesnt give anything away, or the worst trailer in the fact that it let all the fans know not to waste our time.

  14. Artemis is supposed to start as an narcissistic egotistical (but entertaining) little prick, but through the book learns a lesson ( at least in part). This is more like spy kids with fairies.
I imagine Disney was worried about mainstream appeal or having the villains be the main character. …….but then it's not Artemis Fowl

  15. Me happy that they're planning to make a Percy Jackson Adaptation: Finally, we get what we deserve. I know they're going to do it right this time.

Me after seeing Artemis Fowl trailer: I don't think we're in safe hands.

  16. Will you all stop taking out your quarantine frustration on this film. Every other film that has been a novel adaption has failed to do so but this isn't one of those.

  17. This already is a fantastic adaptation of the fowl story line with Colfer's involvement. There I said it. This is exactly why film adaptations are never done, because the fans can't handle seeing anything other than their head cannon on screen. Every Book either ends it or is predominately composed of a Fowl fairy team up, this film still has that and retconning Artemis' father from criminal mastermind to "protector" doesn't diminish anything he still is in a "complicated profession" he's still a bad guy, they just made him a bad guy that does bad things to keep the world safe, so he steals and commits heists to protect the world from fairy artifacts that would threaten it. Eventually that lands him in trouble with some shadowy portion of the people who want power for themselves, so he's stealing from them too. The story line more or less looks like fowl fairy team up followed by fowl manor siege. Possibly ending in a mind wipe. Meaning if this someone beats the odds the hate its getting and really hasn't deserved. I think the hate of Percy Jackson, And Avatar all were very well earned but this film, hasn't earned it.

  18. Colfer Knew this was likely the only installation of the series he was going to get, so it made sense to forgo the important adversarial stage of Fowl and Fairy conflict to go directly for the unified team story, which is the part we all enjoyed the most if we had to pick just one. I'm not saying that I dont want to see the adversarial stage or that it didn't add extreme depth to the story, but given the choice between "Fairy conflict" and "fairy team up" i'll go with the team up especially when Im pretty sure I wont be getting any follow up novels. This movie is not being made only for those that have read and enjoyed the books, it's being made to deliver to a much wider audience bring them into the Fandom, and that, cannot be a bad thing. I got excited to see this being straight to a Fowl Fairy team up, it was I love most about the book, this unity of two worlds alien and distrustful of one another. It's why the eternity code is my favorite of the series, because the entire novel is a team up, which every other novel after the first one is. Respectfully, those saying this isn't true to the source material should consider that we all loved the series because every novel, no matter the distrust always would always result or boil down to a fairy fowl team up, and thats what we love about the series. Not just the human beating a superior foe the little bond villain aspect, or the hyper advanced "enlightened" underground magical people, but that they always would end up teaming up. That is the essence of a fowl story, and why we all love it. This is what the majority of Artemis fowl is, fowl and fairy teamed up to protect the world from some danger. So butler is black instead of Eurasia, does that mean he's not butler, absolutely not? Roots a women and? theres a still a conflict and even from the trailer its clear theres still the siege of fowl manner. Look I get it if you dont like it, but it is honestly this is still a fowl story, true to the the characters, true to the "fowl formula".
