Robinhood has finally released their brand new feature DRIP, and Fractional Shares. DRIP stands for Dividend Reinvestment Plan, and it allows you to be paid dividends and automatically reinvest them back into the same stocks that paid those dividends.

These features have a few advantages to normal non automated investing so I wanted to show you an overview and basic tutorial of how to invest for beginners, if you wanted to invest $100 in the stock market.

Some things to note about how Robinhood is treating fractional shares. There are two types of transfers available – partial and full. A full transfer will move your stocks from one brokerage to another (at the cost of $75 via ACATS, Automated Customer Account Transfer Service), and your fractional shares will be sold and the money given to you. A partial transfer will move your stocks and leave the fractional shares in Robinhood.

No matter which option you choose for your investment, fractional shares cannot be moved from one brokerage to another until they become full shares.

Fractional shares also receive dividends in proportion equal to the amount of shares you own in that stock. For example, if you own 10% a stock, you will receive 10% of that dividend payout at the end of the trading day rounded to the nearest penny.

There is a common misconception that if you reinvest your dividends through DRIP, you don’t actually have to pay taxes on that money. This is a myth, you still have to pay taxes on that money because it is still considered as money you received.

DRIPs and Fractional Shares are important because these features make it easier to get into a habit of investing, which over a long period of time builds good consistent habits, and that’s how wealth is created – as opposed to day trading like most people think when they think of investing. But these features will help make you an automatic millionaire by using compound interest to your advantage.

  1. I've been waiting for so long to get access that I decided to open an account with Fidelity where I can buy fractional shares if I use their app.

  2. $1200 richer, but I am pretty sure once you go to pay your 2019 taxes, they will make you pay back the $ if you are over $75k then. So it's basically just a free loan for those with differences in 2018 and 2019 income.

  3. I'm on the list for fractionals (some 2mil other people as well) and I have no reference to DRIP or dividends anywhere on my app or in my profile. Guess I'll look to move to another App…

  4. So I don’t have the option to turn on or off the edit dividend reinvestment.. would u know what would be the reason I don’t have that option.

  5. Not too make you feel ripped off or anything, but… Robinhood sent me a completely different package for the card and it was really really cool. It slid open one direction and the card slid out another. Super rad packaging.

  6. I’m 2,290,490 in line in the app 😂 Good thing I use M1 for fractional shares and Robinhood for single stocks

  7. Question, I thought I read somewhere that the stimulus package is based on your 2018/latest tax return but will be adjusted next tax filing based on your 2019 return, therefore if you made 70K in 2018 but 100K in 2019 you might owe some of this back in your 2020 filing if you didn't file your 2019 tax return before receiving the package. Has this changed since I read last? wish i had the article on hand.

  8. How long does it take for someone to see these features ! I started 1-2 months ago but I don’t see the access to reinvesting dividends

  9. I have 50k invested on the stash app….and just recently found out that they take .025% annually on portfolios larger than 5k. Do I stay with stash or do I sell and get into a new brokerage app?

  10. Andrei, my wife and I love your videos! Huge fans!
On a side note, if they’re ever looking for someone new to be Gambit from X-men, you’re a shoo-in!

  11. Okay somebody give me some explanation warren buffet didn't wanted to Cut his big chunk of shares for some personal reasons so other bankers came in and they proposed another scheme (I don't know how )
which they divided the stocks into two category A and B. the Share B category trades around 250$
Now buying class A share in fraction Mr.warren buffet wouldn't like this.
can anybody explain this is going to work… there are certain drawbacks to this right?

  12. Really great video, thank you for all that information that you present for us every day!🙏🏻🔝 Hope you can help me with this question. Where can I find the stock safety score? Thanks again! Keep doing your thing! ✌🏻👍🏻

  13. Noob question here – I purchased BA fairly low but they got rid of the dividend after I purchased. Does that mean NEW stock purchases won't have the dividend or ALL owners of the stock won't get a dividend?

  14. information is power ,..again bitcoin has moved higher and able to find a new support around $7,000 against the US dollars, meanwhile the bulls are still very much strong and currently trading above $7,300 region which now target the next resistance at $8,000 against the US dollars although there are so much speculations that bitcoin would be trading above $10,000 in near term. However i am really happy at the level in which the bulls are heading to now because have already started accumulating and growing a very strong portfolio ahead of halving, i so much believe in day trading mostly when you find a working strategy/daily signals like that of Floyd Edward's daily signals which i have been using since the bear market and has indeed been so accurate and well analysed for traders and even newbies. Last month i was able to grow my portfolio from 0.9btc to a total of 6.8btc which you would agree is a very good profit, i would say why not grow a very strong portfolio ahead of bitcoin halving, Floyd can be reach via Whatspp: +447380347335 and Telgram @floyd_signal27 for inquiries into profitable trading systems.

  15. I'm getting so sick of robinhood, I'll keep using it because of how much I've put in so far and how volatile things are right now, but i've been on the waitlist since like day 1 or 2 of the announcement for fractional shares what the actual fuck.
